Administration Officer Role
Overview
Position Title: Administration Officer
Reports to: The Central Craft Management Committee and management staff as applicable.
Location: Alice Springs
Hours per week: Average weekly hours 6-10
Salary Band: $31.25-$39.20 per hour which includes 25% causal loading plus 12% super.
Status: Casual

Central Craft is a not-for-profit membership-based organisation located in Alice Springs (Mpartnwe) that nurtures and promotes craft and design practice in Central Australia. We provide advocacy, support, promotional and professional development opportunities, access to well-equipped studios, a workshop program, a retail outlet, and a gallery space for established and emerging craftspeople living in Central Australia.
Central Craft strengthens the community by providing opportunities for learning, creative expression, and social and professional networking. We support emerging through to established craftspeople and artists
working across many disciplines. Central Craft is incorporated under the NT Associations Act. It is governed by a volunteer Management Committee of nine members who are elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting.
Position Summary
The Administration Officer provides
vital operational support across Central Craft’s programs, retail outlet,
membership services, and events. This role ensures smooth day-to-day
operations, effective volunteer coordination, accurate financial and membership
record-keeping, and excellent customer service. Key focus areas include:
- Managing workshop, gallery, and shop transactions through the
Shopify POS system. - Supporting members and coordinating volunteers.
- Assisting with event delivery and promotion.
- Undertaking general administration, finance
processing, and database management.
Qualifications and Key Selection Criteria
Essential
- Demonstrated experience in
administration duties. - Ability to coordinate diverse
functions and meet client needs. - Experience in being able to resolve
problems and make sound decisions. - Experience in managing workloads
according to multiple priorities and competing demands. - Self motivated and ability to self
manage time. - Sound knowledge of Shopify POS
software and Xero finance system - Passion for the arts and crafts.
Desirable
- Basic graphic design skills
(e.g. Canva). - Experience with social media for business
promotion. - Experience coordinating volunteers or managing
rosters. - Photography skills for documenting retail
stock, exhibitions, or events. - Experience in retail or gallery operations,
particularly in the arts or creative industries. - NT Driver’s licence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Delivery
- Assist management staff and/or the Management
Committee with daily operations of the retail outlet. - Train and support shop volunteers (or delegate
training as required). - Coordinate and maintain the volunteer roster.
2. Administration and General Duties
- Provide or delegate POS
training for shop volunteers. - Assist in retail shop
marketing and promotion under the direction of management staff. - Facilitate the shop display
and delegation of visual merchandising. - Assist with reordering of
office and studio stock and supplies. - Maintain craft seller,
membership and FOB-key databases. - Upload and
maintain craft seller inventory in Shopify. - Respond to phone, email, and
in-person enquiries. - Distribute mail.
- Deposit weekly cash sales
into the bank account. - Undertake other administrative tasks as directed.
3. Financial
- Process stock orders and maintain inventory
records. - Prepare monthly craft seller payments.
- Process banking and perform bank
reconciliations. - Generate monthly financial and sales reports.
- Assist with preparing reports for funding bodies
as required.
4. Event Support
- Provide administrative and logistical support
for activities and events in the annual program including (but not limited to)
workshops, exhibitions, venue hires, and special events. - Assist with preparation of promotional
materials, price lists, catalogues, and press releases. - Support the coordination of venue hire
bookings, including: - Ensuring spaces are clean, safe, and ready for
use. - Conducting venue inductions with hirers,
including briefing on equipment, safety, and facilities use. - Completing pre- and post-hire condition reports in
consultation with hirers.

Studio Cleaner
Overview
Position Title: Studio Cleaner (Level 2)
Reports to: The Central Craft Management staff as applicable.
Location: Alice Springs
Hours per week: 6 hours per week (3 hours per shift, during business hours).
Days: Mondays AM, and Thursdays (AM or PM)
Salary Band: $31.60 per hour (inclusive of casual loading)
Status: Casual (Level 2 under the Cleaning Services Award 2020).
Date: 21 Aug 2025
Position Summary
Central Craft is seeking a skilled and reliable Casual Cleaner to maintain a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment across our shared studios and facilities. This role involves cleaning multiple areas, handling chemicals safely, and following OHS procedures, particularly in spaces with clay dust, glazes, dyes, and other workshop materials. Strong time management, reliability, and the ability to prioritise tasks independently are essential.
Responsibilities
- Clean and restock bathrooms (toilets, sinks, mirrors, consumables).
- Clean main studio areas (tables, bins, floors, sinks, sign-in desk, glass doors/windows).
- Clean office, library, and print areas (floors and bins).
- Clean kitchen (counters, sinks, fridge, microwave, bins, tea towels).
- Vacuum and mop floors across communal spaces, including shop and shared studios.
- Ensure studio’s council rubbish bins are placed out for collection/brought back in weekly
- Follow OHS cleaning guidelines when working around clay dust, glazes, chemicals, and dyes.
- Identify cleaning priorities and maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout all shared spaces.
- Report to staff any OHS hazards, maintenance issues, supply shortages, or other observations made while performing cleaning duties.
Skills & Requirements
- Previous cleaning experience in a workshop, industrial, or community facility.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning methods (e.g. HEPA vacuums, wet mopping, safe waste disposal).
- Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and follow OHS procedures.
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks independently.
- Reliable, punctual, and communicates effectively with staff.
- Physically able to perform manual cleaning duties whilst wearing PPE and safety clothes.
