About our Shop
The Central Craft Shop is more than a retail space. It is a place that celebrates the creativity, talent and stories of artists and makers from across Central Australia. Each item on our shelves has been thoughtfully created by local artists, offering visitors the opportunity to purchase authentic handmade work while directly supporting our creative community.
Whether you’re looking for a unique gift, a keepsake from your time in Central Australia, or something special for your home, you’ll discover an ever-changing collection of ceramics, textiles, jewellery, prints and more.
As a member-run, not-for-profit organisation, the shop is supported by our wonderful team of volunteers and craft sellers who generously contribute their time and skills. We aim to be open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 2pm; however, opening hours are dependent on volunteer availability and may occasionally vary. We appreciate your understanding and support if we are unable to open as advertised.
We are always welcoming new artists and makers to sell their work through the Central Craft Shop. Sellers are encouraged to become part of our volunteer team, helping create a warm and welcoming experience for visitors while supporting the ongoing success of the shop.
Craft sellers who volunteer for two 2-hour shifts each calendar month receive a reduced commission rate of 25%. A commission rate of 35% applies to sellers who are unable to volunteer.
If you are a local artist looking for a space to share your work, or someone interested in volunteering and supporting the local arts community, we would love to hear from you. By becoming involved, you help strengthen a vibrant creative community and ensure the Central Craft Shop continues to thrive for artists, visitors and locals alike.
