'Here and There', By Ali Hood

Opening Event: 11am, Saturday 11th Oct

Ali Hood has been an educator in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) for the past two decades. Before that, she was an art maker. This exhibition is a return to art practice that has been calling for a number of years. She now lives between Mparntwe, Alice Springs and Nipaluna, Hobart.

Ali says, “These artworks reflect the hearing, listening and seeing moments both here and there. It is also an acknowledgement that there are other ways of looking and interacting with country.”

Exhibtion: Winter School Holiday Craft Program

Opening: Sat 5th July

Join us in celebrating the incredible works created during our free Winter School Holiday Craft Program with artist and educator Nina Annand. During the workshops, children explored Arrernte seasonal stories, birds, and the cycles of nature — including the willy wagtail (Artityerrityerre) and the cuckoo — through sculpture, mask-making, textiles, and painting. The project reflects on balance, climate, connection to Country, and caring for one another through creative storytelling.

These stories and seasonal knowledge were shared with permission from Arrernte Elders. We thank them for their generosity and guidance. This program was made possible thanks to the Northern Territory Government’s Unleash Creativity grant.
