Artist of the Next Generation-Bachelor Institute

ONE DAY ONLY

Thursday 14 November, 5-6pm

We are a group of high school students enrolled in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Industry course at Batchelor Institute. Our exhibition will include a line of T-shirts that we have designed and printed ourselves. We will also exhibit a collection of artworks from the Batchelor Institute art collection. The meaning behind the words and symbols on our t-shirts represent young people having a voice and being able to use it, also so young ones can be heard and having something they can be proud to own and wear. By choosing existing artworks from the collection at Batchelor Institute, we are practicing how to be Curators, how to have an exhibition and how to display the artworks professionally. In our course we learn how to plan and apply for a exhibition, we also learn how to design and think outside of the box.
