Hello to our Central Craft community! Welcome to our August Newsletter.
Workshop Works: Foiled & Fired
Over the past six weeks, participants from two courses - Handbuilding with Em Frank and Leadlighting with Miles Dunne - have explored a range of techniques, forms and ideas, developing their skills and individual creative styles along the way. It has been fantastic to see students’ work take shape throughout the course, resulting in unique pieces in two special crafts.
The work from both courses can be viewed in our current student exhibition, Workshop Works: Foiled & Fired. The exhibition opened over the weekend to a great turnout. The exhibition is now on display in the June Marriott Gallery and runs until 15 August. Catch it in its last days - you’ll be pleased you did.

UPCOMING EXHIBITION
Tjapaltjarri Brothers
A collaborative exhibition by Jamesy Collins and Sam Gledhill
Opening: Saturday August 22nd,10:30am
Artists Jamesy Collins and Sam Gledhill collaborate in Tjapaltjarri Brothers - an exhibition showcasing their love of fine craftsmanship in a series of works that speak to their respective upbringings in Central Australia.
Jamesy uses traditional Anmatyerre craftsmanship to share his and his grandfather’s dreamings, carving boomerangs and animals from locally sourced mulga and river red gum roots. Sam, a sign-writer born in Mparntwe, sets the scene of his hometown, painting on scrap metal and glass collected from town and bush. Together, they have curated an exhibition that celebrates working both ways.
Join us for the opening next Saturday August 22nd at 10:30am. Exhibition runs until September 5th.
