Creating simple books

Are you an artist, photographer, writer or poet? Or do you just love books?

This workshop provides a fun opportunity to make folded book structures that have both practical and aesthetic appeal.

Using the basic idea of a concertina or accordion fold, we’ll experiment with many variations and create a range of one-sheet books.

Inspired by Hedi Kyle and Ulla Warchol’s book, The Art of the Fold, this workshop is open to anyone, no prior experience needed.

Each workshop would introduce a new technique for example: 

The accordion fold

Blizzards

One-sheet books 

Japanese stab binding

Soft covers, envelopes and other enclosures

Each workshop will be accompanied by notes and references for further exploration.
