Come learn how to use the technique of cobbling and random weaving to make a bird from natural and man-made fibres. Cobbling is a kind of random stitching used to hold fibre together to create a form. Random weaving will be shown as a way to create gorgeous intricate wings to your bird

You will be provided with information about basketry techniques and fibre collection, but the focus is enjoying the process of creative discovery. Materials such as sisal rope, dyed corn husks, feathers, threads, and split flax will be provided.

PLEAE NOTE: If this class fills up we will run a second class on Sunday 23 June from 2pm-5pm. If class is full please sign up for the waitlist.

Workshop fee $80

Saturday 22 June 9:00am- 12:00pm at Central Craft at the long table

Skill level: All levels

Tutor:  Jodie Goldring

I have been using basketry techniques in my art practice since I joined the Basketmakers of Victoria in 2005. With the assistance of generous members of this community organisation I have gained skills and knowledge that I enjoy sharing with others. The appeal of basketry is that it allows me to slow down and experience the satisfaction of creating something hand made. With this shorter workshop I will provide participants with a quicker method and working style that allows for the engaging fun of social play and creative discovery.
