Coiled Pots with Jodie Goldring Sunday 23 June 9am-12pm
In this workshop you are invited to use discarded shirts from your wardrobe to make complex colourations while creating a small but functional basket. With patterned shirts going out of fashion so quickly crowding our hanging spaces, wardrobes and op shops, learn how to recycle these items into something new.
We will start by making string with fabric lengths, which will then be used to make the coiled basket using raffia with a buttonhole stitch. String making and coiling are both techniques you can achieve at home once you learn the basics. String making in particular is such a relaxing thing to do at the end of the day and resulting cordage can be used for a myriad of things around the house and garden, such as tying a tomato plant to a stake.
