Vague Feminism an exhibition by Jules North - Opens Friday 11th October 6pm
Fri, 11 Oct 2019
The exhibition is my journey of exploring the concept of feminism.
I am not wanting to stand on a soap box and shout about women’s rights, but I have inadvertently found myself revisiting feminism, not in any ordered fashion but just exploring concepts and ideas that interest me.
I have found it to be a fascinating, diverse and of course still relevant topic. From the suffragettes, the first, second and now third wave of feminists, women have seemly been continually fighting for their rights in some area or another.
Now in my Fifties I find myself asking the question am I a feminist or a bad feminist (a term coined by the writer Roxanne Gay) or are all women, simply by the fact that we are female, feminist by default? I am still not sure.
